Davidson did very well in this years NCAA tourney. Proving themselves against BIG conference schools, or ranked teams. Could they go as high as a #10 seed in next years opening rankings?
Rivals doesn’t have them in their pre-season poll for the 2008-2009 season. ESPN has them at No. 14 for their 2008-2009 Preseason Poll. Sports Illustrated only says they think Davidson will be a top 30 team. I personally feel like they could be anywhere between #14 and #18
I think that they will be somewhere between 18-25. Having Stephen Curry definitely helps, but they do lose Jason Richards to graduation, (their starting point guard to those who don’t know him) he proved in the season and during the tournament that he was important to the team. But having Curry and Andrew Lovedale will definitely help
I think Davidson will go at least 20-25 in the preseason poll. They should have most of their players returning. Also, if I’m not mistaken, they did make it to the top 25 earlier this year. I’m no Davidson fan, but I do know that they played a lot of big teams this past year to “beef up” their non-conference schedule. They played Texas in scrimmage, and UCLA, UNC, and Duke as well. If they continue to play top contenders in their schedule, the Davidson Wildcats will continue to improve and become contenders.
They will be ranked around 15-20. They gave the NCAA champs a run for their money. They also almost beat North Carolina. They will definitely be ranked next year.
