I feel really bad for the people in seattle right now. I would kill somebody or be sad every second of my life if the patriots, redsox, bruins, or celtics moved away. Seattle has good history and the fans cared about the sonics. Oklahoma is to small for a team. The Nba should take the sonics history away from the Thunder and give it to Seattle for the new team. Just like the Browns in 1995.

unless theres an expansion,it wont happen
I don’t get why people feel bad for the the residents of Seattle. You do realize they lost their team because, and solely because, they refused to pay for a new arena through city taxes. Seattle expected the owners to foot the bill. That’s not the way it works. Therefore THEY lost the Sonics. No one stole that team from Seattle. Seattle gave it away.
That being said, if Seattle fans change their minds and pay for a new stadium (which complicates matters now because they’ll have to build the arena before the NBA will commission a team there and there is no guarantee when or if the NBA will) there is a good chance they could bring a team back to the city. They’d be in the top 3-5 cities eligible for relocation or expansion anyways (along with San Jose and Kansas City).
The important matter here, though, is that Clay Bennett did not steal the Seattle Super Sonics. The people of Seattle gave them away.
“They are getting a new team but it wont be the sonics I heard that they have to get a different name”
No they would not. Seattle owns the rights to the team name and colors of the Sonics and would, in all likelihood, name or rename their next team the Sonics.
Actually the Thunder didnt take any of the history with them. Seattle keeps that history. The fans didnt come to the games, they rarely sold out. They moved because the owner wanted to move them. Seattle wasnt giving them a new arena, so he moved it back to his hometown. I would be excited if the Patriots disappeared, im sick of that cheating team and tom brady.
A team will MOVE there….try new orleans, sacramento. To many economical problems for those teams. Sacramento cant get an arena and the city of New Orleans cant support a 41 game home schedule for a pro team. If Seattle shows they are serious about building an arena the Sonics will be back. But that may be a big if in this economic climate right now.
no they became the oklahoma thunder. They moved because they were losing money. The teams in boston are making millions. The fan base of seattle could not support the team. Just like what is happening in phoenix right now. They will have to move because they cant support the saints and suns.
Yes, I feel bad for them also. But I don’t think they will ever have another team in Seattle.

Doubt it, but if they do it wont be for a while.
