I can never work out the GB (games behind) column on NBA west/east conference standings.
How can a team be 0.5 or 1.5 or whatever.5 of a game behind another team???
Can someone explain how this is calculated?
Please help if you know what I mean.

If a team has 3 more wins and 3 less losses then the next team, they are 3 games ahead.
If a team is 20-17 and another is 17-20, they are 3 games apart.
If a team is 6 games ahead in wins and has 7 less losses, they are 6.5 games ahead..Example..26-20 versus 20-27 records
the only way i can explain is if i use examples
10-9 vs 10-10 10-9 is 0.5 games up
10-9 vs 9-10 10-9 is 1 game up
10-9 vs 9-9 10-9 is 1.5 games up
